Growing from a small company that specialised in tools for climbers, Patagonia has quickly established itself as one of the premier outdoor apparel and accessory brands across the globe. While they still produce clothing aimed at the climbing market, their range now encapsulates apparel and accessories for everything from hiking and camping, through to trail running and surfing.

Patagonia’s love of the wild and beautiful places demands that they also participate in the fight to save the environment. At least 1% of all Patagonia sales, plus countless hours and services are donated on a yearly basis to grassroots bodies throughout the world to combat this decline.

Staying true to these foundation values for over 40 years has created a company that not only its staff are proud to work at, but its customers are proud to wear and support.

IRON CLAD GUARANTEE

Patagonia guarantees everything they make. If you are not satisfied with one of their products at the time you receive it, or if one of their products does not perform to your satisfaction, return it to the store you bought it from for a repair, replacement or refund. Patagonia believes that as consumers, the single best thing that can be done to help our planet is to keep your gear in use longer.

Though it may seem counter intuitive, washing and drying your waterproof outerwear – and periodically reapplying durable water repellent (DWR) – will help to ensure it remains water and stain repellent for years to come. You can also learn how to repair your Patagonia gear from the experts at iFixit.
TRACEABLE DOWN

Beginning in 2007, Patagonia have worked to ensure that from the parent farm through to the apparel factory, they can trace the down used in its clothing at every stage of the production process. These measures ensure that the birds are not force-fed or live-plucked. The Traceable Down Standard provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry.

1% FOR THE PLANET

Patagonia has pledged 1% of its sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment since 1985.
Over $74 million has been awarded in cash and inkind donations to domestic and international grassroots environmental groups making a difference in their local communities. In 2002, founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, created a non-profit corporation to encourage other businesses to do the same.
